Farmhouse. Probably early C17, mid-late C17, first half C18,
altered c1900. English bond brickwork, part irregular; timber-
framing, brick-nogged to entrance front, rendered infill to rear,
tiled roof. Four-bay front, one room deep, 2½ storeys, third bay
cross wing, 2 rooms deep. All windows casement, c1900. Gable to
road: 3-light window to right, small, blocked window to left,
plain string course over, 2-light window off centre to left, all
with cambered brick arches. Close above 3-light window, with
blocked, wider window immediately above; upper first reduced in
width each side with thicker brick, then infilled centre with
bricks salvaged from new opening below: brick-on-edge head.
Chimney from right eaves. Right return blocked window on left,
cambered brick arch. Four-panel door, top 2 glazed, under open,
wooden trellis porch, boarded gable, decorative barge boards,
corrugated-iron roof. Three-light window "to right, cambered brick
arch; plain string course over, interrupted at right end by
blocked stair window, 2 bricks remaining of cambered. head. Two-
light window above slightly to left. To right timber-framing, on
stone plinth, 2-panels high per floor: 3-light window ground
floor, 2-light above, jowls to corner posts (originally carried
gable). Brick bay to right, plinth, cut down on left, reason
unclear; 2-light window, blocked door to right, both cambered
brick heads; 2-light window above. Wide angled eaves: ridge
drops over timber-framed section; chimney from eaves left and on
ridge one bay from right; lateral chimney rear of wing nearest
road.
Interior: brick end near road, large room with originally 2 small
at road end: exposed beams with wide chamfer and bar stop; end of
one beam appears to stop short of wall; chimney across corner.
Above chimney set square, with timber-framed cupboard adjoining:
two 2-panel doors. Tie-beam and collar trusses, with angled
struts, half-trusses between, 2 pairs purlins. Cross wing, ground
floor front, moulded dado rail, exposed ceiling beam; straight
wind braces in roof. Originally wide fireplace in end of brick
section beyond, with tapering chimney above on first floor. Front
room of cross wing said to have lion and unicorn painted over
fireplace, with texts around top of wall, since papered over.
