Large detached farmhouse. Early C18 with C19 and C20 alterations.
Brick; lias cellar; brick chimneys; plain tile roof. Single
range with staircase wing to rear; 2-storey with cellar and attic;
single-storey with attic addition to rear. South front: formerly
6-window elevation with sashes and 6-panel central door; C18
sashes to upper floor now without glazing bars; 2 ground floor
windows blocked; outer windows enlarged in C19 to tripartite plate
glass sashes; all with brick flat arches; plain band at upper
floor level; C19 gabled porch with Tudor-arched opening in gauged
brick; 3 hipped attic roof dormers with C20 casements; 2 ridge-
mounted brick chimneys. West end: parapet gabled with moulded
brick coping; lias stonework to cellar with segmental arched plank
door; off-centre sashes to ground and upper floors; C20 attic
casement. East end: parapet gabled as west; tripartite sash to
ground and upper floors; C20 attic casement. Back: central
gabled stair wing with small-paned attic-level casement; single-
storey outshut; large single-storey with attic hipped roofed
addition to right of stair wing with C20 casements.
Interior not inspected. Probably stands on site of medieval manor
house. An unusually large and early brick-built house in this
area. Dominates north vista up road south of central village
