II
Stray-animal pound now used as machinery store. Early C19 for the Duke of
Northumberland. Coursed stone with ashlar door frame. Yard about 50 ft square.
Original oak plank door in broad slightly-projecting surround with chamfered
inner and outer edges. Crescent moon carved in relief above door; band above
and chamfered coping on top. Walls about 8 ft high with ridged coping. Later
double doors on left return.
