Stable block. 1890 by Stephenson of Berwick for Major Browne. Rock-faced stone
and Welsh slate roof. Cast-iron.
4 ranges round a quadrangle.
9-bay front has central segmental-arched carriage entry with clock above in
pedimented frame with Tuscan pilasters. Large pedimented bellcote over has
one very large and 3 smaller bells. Weather vane.
Flanking bays are 2-storey with single-storey,3-bay outer sections. 3- and
2-light mullioned windows with broken pediments. Cornice above ground floor.
Parapet rising to false gables with ball finials over 1st, 4th, 6th and 9th
bays. Hipped roof with 4 corniced ridge stacks.
Interior of quadrangle has, round 3 sides, a glass-roofed canopy with cast-iron
cantilevered long brackets, curved braces and elaborate cast-iron spandrels.
Also a decorative cast-iron frill to canopy.
