Stable-block and coach house, now class rooms and a chapel. Circa 1867 for
John Joseph Jones of Abberley Hall (qv). Red brick with freestone dressings,
plain tiled roof with decorative ridge tiles. In a plain Italianate style,
quadrangular on plan enclosing a stable yard. Central tower with low
pyramidal roof and overhanging eaves, round archway, panel of arms over a
string course, 3-light round-headed window to top stage embellished with
freestone quoins and imposts and bands of blue brick. The flanking wings are
slightly advanced and of 4 bays with round-headed glazed, casement windows in
semi-circular headed niches linked by impost bands on ground floor, and
segmental headed sash windows with vertical glazing bars on first floor; free-
stone band. Attached at the right is a 2 storey, 4 bay former coachman's house:
the 3 right hand bays are under a hipped roof, fenestration and details as
main block but all the windows have vertical glazing bars; panelled door in
recessed section at left. Single storey and attic side wings (former stables)
with mansard roof. 4 varied segmental headed glazing bar sash and casement
windows and panelled and plank doors on ground floor all under a plain band
and square headed and pedimented dormers to attic. The rear block is now a
chapel (formerly the coach house) of 6 bays with 5 round-headed windows and
off-centre door.
