Ruined gatehouse to house built by Abbot of Gloucester. Probably
C14. Random coursed rubble stone up to top of ground floor. Two
large chamfered pointed archways, double on outer side with
straight buttresses to front. Remains of jambs of inner arch with
later pair of timber gates and posts. Remains of 2 archways to
side on right, separating main throughway from pedestrian side with
small pointed archway in centre. Doorway raised above ground level
on left side, probably to remains of stairway, not accessible at
time of survey.
