Dovecote. Probably C17; extensive late C20 restoration from
ruinous condition by Sir Colin Crowe. Random and coursed rubble
limestone; stone slate roof. Circular; later internal upper
floor now removed. Doorway on south side with timber lintel;
gabled eaves-mounted dormer above. High level doorway on north
side with access from bank. Central square lantern with pyramid
roof and small ball finial. Interior: lined with 7 rows of pigeon
holes and perches. New roof structure by Mervin Day is of some
interest with circular purlin. Stands to north of The Pigeon House
(q.v.).
