Farmhouse. C17, extended late C18 with mid-C19 refacing and further additions.
Timber-framed, mainly painted brick infill, sandstone plinth and sandstone
rubble C18 extension, brick refacing and further additions, tiled roofs.
L-plan house with main range aligned north-west/south-east facing south-west,
wing extends to rear (north-east) at south-east end with further additions,
through-passage and main axial stack to right of centre. Two storeys and
attic, irregular fenestration, three windows to first floor of main block
mainly 2- and 3-light casements; ground floor, one 2-light metal casement to
left and one 3-light and one 6-light window to right of doorway with bracketed
canopy, moulded architrave and ledged door; lean-to to right of large window
and gable end of cross-wing further to right with brick refacing, 2-light
casement window in gable and 3-light window to first floor with segmental
4-light window to ground floor. Framing: four square panels from sill to
wall-plate. Interior contains chamfered beams and interior of later C18
(extension) former granary to rear with dropped tie-beam trusses and swept
braces to collar. Adjoining square hop kiln not of special architectural
interest.
