II
House formerly incorporating barn. Dated 1775 on door lintel. Said to have
been built as a shooting lodge for Rev. James Scott. Squared rubble and
dressings; Welsh slate roof and stone chimney. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Off-centre
replaced door behind unsympathetic C20 porch. Door lintel inscribed JAMES
SCOTT STP 1775. Scattered replaced sashes and casements. Pitched roof.
Returns with horizontal parapets rise above eaves to height of ridge. Right
return has blocked breathers and is surmounted by 3 squat crocketed pinnacles
(the centre one taller). Left return has four 12-pane sashes in pointed
openings; similar blind window above; central stack flanked by identical
pinnacles. Single-storey range at right-angles on right front bay and rear
additions are not of special interest. Prominent landscape feature.
