Former farmhouse, now house. C14 core with C15 or C16 added cross-wings
extended and altered C17 and late C19, altered late C20. Timber-framed
with wattle-and-daub infill, refaced with sandstone rubble, part rendered
brick to upper floors, slate roofs. Broadly H-plan with rear external
stack to central block; further stacks at junctions with cross-wings,
doorway in central block indicating position of former through-passage.
Two storeys, attics and cellars, south-east wing (to rear) with lower
ridge level. Main front central block with flanking gable ends of
forward projection cross-wings, 1:3:1 windows,. 2- and 3-light C19 and
C20 cross casements, cambered heads to ground floor, left of centre doorway
with gabled porch, square headed with curved brace insertions, ledged door.
Two cusped-lights to C19 window at rear of central block and further similar
blocked window obscured by stack, close-studding and square panelling to
timber-framed south-east wing with 6-light diamond mullioned window to
ground floor. Pigeon holes in gable end. Interior: C20 restored late
C17 dog-leg staircase with splat balusters. Traces of blocked doorway
in south wall of central block with segmental head.
