GV II
Barn. Possibly C16 with C18 and C19 extensions. Timber-frame, sandstone
rubble, weatherboards and Welsh slate roofs. L-plan comprising five-bay
barn aligned north/south with extension at north of two bays returning
eastwards in four bays. East elevation has large opposed hipped projecting
cart entry to central bay, C19 cow cot lean-to extensions to either side
and roof half-hipped to left end; to the right is the higher barn extension,
corrugated iron double-leaved doors to a second threshing floor and gable
front with gable-top opening: Interior of five-bay part has four pairs of
cruck blades with ties, spurs and collars and brick nogging with tension
braces in timber-framed west wall which has two panels from plinth to
wall-plate; trusses of north part have raking struts from ties to principals.
An unusually complete example of a cruck barn later altered with large porch
to threshing floor and extended.
