The Cruck House
(formerly listed as

House. Probably C14, altered mid-C19 and mid-C20. Timber-framed with
painted brick and rubble infill on painted rubble base and with some painted
rubble walling; stone-tiled roof laid in diminishing courses and rubble stack
at east end with rubble and brick shafts. Cruck hall house of two framed bays
aligned east/west with large east end chimney, Single storey and attic with
dormer. Framing: full cruck truss with collar exposed at east gable end.
Wall-framing has mainly two panels from sill to wall-plate. North front
elevation: there is a C19 oriel window on straight brackets with a hipped
roof and casements windows and also a 2-light C19 casement with a plank
weathering on the ground floor. Above is a gabled dormer with a 2-light casement
Main entrance to rear of chimney at east end and has a lean-to canopy
on straight brackets and a C20 door. Attic light at west end. C20 single-
storey flat-roofed extension at rear. Interior retains its central cruck
