SO 45 NW EARDISLAND CP BROOME

4/70 Broome Farmhouse

Farmhouse. C17, with some late C18 and mid-C20 alterations. Timber-frame
entirely rough cast on coursed rubble plinth under a slate roof. H-plan,
main range aligned east/west. Stack to west end of hall has four linked
diamond plan shafts. Lateral stack on east wall is square plan with panelled
sides. South front of two storeys, with one plus two plus one windows, a boxed
9-pane sash, a 3-light, a 2-light and a 3-light casement. Ground floor has a
boxed glazing bar sash, a 4-light casement and two 3-light casements. Entrance
to right of centre has a C20 porch. The C17 boarded door has an ovolo moulded
frame and ornamental strap hinges. Interior has numerous exposed chamfered and
stopped ceiling beams. Walls are probably four square panels high.
