5 cottages. Early C18. Rubble, C20 clay pantile roofs. 2 storeys, L-
shaped plan, with 2 bays (Nos 56 and 58) facing south and 3 bays (Nos 50,
52, 54) facing west. Quoins at outer ends. Openings have segmental arches
of brick headers, infilled above top of door and window frames with bricks.
Nos 50, 52 and 56, 58 have central paired doors, No 54 is right-handed bay
in corner. No 54 has original part-glazed 6-panel door, the others have C20
six-panel doors. Ground-floor windows: sashes with glazing bars. First-
floor windows: 9-pane unequally-hung sashes. Raised verges with reversed
crowstepping to outer ends. Rebuilt brick stacks at ends of each bay away
from door. Rear of Nos 50, 52, 54: side-sliding sash windows. Left return,
No 58: small ground-floor window. These cottages are known locally as The
Square, and were opposite the junction of the High Street with a road called
Kirk Street which went round the northern edge of the churchyard until the
