Built as an Independent Chapel, 1755 and enlarged and altered with addition of tower
to the designs of Charles Child, in 1840, when taken over by the Church of England.
Dressed stone with ashlar dressings. The original chapel, now the body of church, of
4 plain bays extended in 1840 to form chancel in matching build. Stone slate roof
with block brackets to eaves. Simple round headed windows in squared ashlar
surrounds, 1826 ashlar sundial to east aide. The 'west' tower porch has 2 storeys
containing round arched doorway and window above with framing quoin pilasters and
cornice; belfry above has pronounced batter with chamfered corners, arched bell
openings louvred in stone, moulded cornice and crowning stone cupola-dome. The tower
porch is flanked by single storey wings with same fenestration as side elevations and
moulded eaves cornice. The east wing extends further with pediment gable and triple
group of archivolt arched lights facing east above doorway with cornice on console
brackets and archivolt arched fanlight over it.
