Stable with granary above, and attached barn and animal house. Stable and
granary mid/late C17 with later alterations and C19 addition; barn C18/early
C19; animal house C17/C18 with Cl9 and C20 alterations. Stable of red brick with
diapering of dark blue headers; gauged brick dressings. Granary timber framed:
square framing with tension braces and brick infill, some C20. Continuous old
tile roof hipped on right. 4 bays. Plank door on right with gauged brick flat
arch. Central stable door with segmental brick arch probably C19. Blocked high
wide doorway on left with gauged brick flat arch. 4 gauged brick oval openings.
Addition on right with catslide roof across end. Red brick with brick
corbelling. Plank door with door above under brick segmental arch. Adjacent
shuttered opening. To rear. Blocked segmental arched doorway 2 oval openings.
Addition has door above ground level. interior: Queen strut roof. Barn attached
on left, continuing roofline. Brick with brick dentil cornice and vents. Old
tile roof, 3 bays. Central doorway with segmental arch and wood lintel; doors
removed. Left return side has gable parapet with kneelers. To rear: C20 opening
with wood lintel in left bay. Interior: Brick spur walls. Queen strut roof.
Animal house attacked at right angles on left. Rear wall timber framed with
brick infill; side and front walls rebuilt in brick. Old tile roof. 5 bays.
Central stable door. Four C20 round arched openings with shutters. Interior:
King post roof with rough timbers. Forms part of an interesting group with
Gorcott Hall (q,v.) and gatepiers and garden walls south-east and south-west of
Gorcott Hall (q.v.).
