Neptune Cottage

GV II

House. Early C19. London stock-type brick in Flemish bond and
gabled, double-range Welsh slate roof. Narrow, tall house of 3
storeys. Second floor has segmental-arched headed window with
plain glass and glass louvres in head. First floor has
projecting flat-roofed canted bay with shiplap boarding up to
sill. Front face has C19 double-hung sash, now with plate
glass and glass louvres. Sides are plain glass. Ground floor
has recessed narrow double-hung sash with central vertical
glazing bars and door with segmental brick arched head. This
has 6 raised-and-fielded panels and rectangular fanlight with
diamond glazing bar patterns.
INTERIOR: dogleg staircase all in pine with column newels with
baluster-like lower part. A number of contemporary pine doors
with moulded architraves.
