Terraced row of 8 cottages. Mid to later C19; slightly
altered.
Cobble walls with red brick quoins and lacing, some sandstone
dressings, and slate roofs on 2 levels.
Linear double-depth plan, each cottage single-fronted.
A 2-storey 16-window range (2 windows to each), in a
symmetrical composition in which Nos 64-70 form the main range
with a full-height 2-storey gabled porch in the centre (shared
by Nos 66 & 68), while Nos. 60/62 and 72/74 to left and right
respectively form slightly higher ends breaking forwards
slightly.
The central porch has a shared 2-light window at ground floor,
a pair of 2-light windows above, a steeply-pitched roof, and
doorways in the side walls; No.70 to the right has an added
gabled porch; No.74 has a small porch attached to the gable
end (gable end of No.60 altered as shop). Except Nos 66 & 70
(which have altered glazing) all the windows are mullioned
2-light casements with 6 panes to each light, and all have
raised sills and chamfered lintels. Six ridge chimneys.
Rear and INTERIOR not inspected.
Front garden wall of coursed cobbles in herringbone pattern,
approx. one metre high, with pitched coping and pairs of
simple gate piers.
