House over shop. 1904, according to date plaque on the
adjoining No.3 Hornhill (qv), incorporating an older (probably
medieval) sidewall. Mixed construction; stone rubble left
(southern) side wall, former party wall; remainder slate-hung
timber-framing; no stack; slate roof.
PLAN: One-room plan house with ground-floor shop and right
side entrance to house, entrance hall with stair in right rear
corner.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with cellar. Ground floor is stucco,
lightly blocked out as ashlar. Original early C20 timber shop
front (relatively plain) with canted right corner containing
contemporary bottom-panelled glazed double doors under plain
overlight. Right return has shop window with glazing bars and,
to rear, house doorway containing a glazed 2-panel door under
plain overlight. Slate-hung front and right return, both
containing single horned 4-pane sashes to each of the upper
floors. Front gable with plain bargeboards and terracotta
finial. Roof hipped to rear.
