Early C19. Brown brick, some rendered. Pitched pantile roof. Three storeys. Brick modillion eaves cornice. Fourteen bays: Nos 7 and 9 with flush-framed sashes, other windows later. No 3 has contemporary bowed oriel shop window with glazing bars and moulded cornice. Nos 1 and 7 have mid C19 shop-fronts with moulded cornices, No 7's with consoles.

New Street was laid out during the last decade of the C18, following the completion of the Selby Toll Bridge in 1792, which provided much improved access from the river front to the town centre. This terrace of shops was originally called Brunswick Terrace.
