ST5516SE YEOVIL CP CHURCH TERRACE (North side)
5/12 Nos 1 & 2, with the iron railings
to both sides of the access path
-
GV II
Terrace Houses now offices of c1820. Rendered and Colourwashed (the side of No I
being roughcast), with Welsh slate roofs having plain verges to gable and a
roughcast chimney stack to No 1. 2-storeys of 2-bays each house, the terrace
being built in stepped pairs, of which Nos 1 & 2 are the lowest. Central
doorways on either side of the party wall; the upper panels of both doors
removed for glazing and having segmental timber porch hoods over, on simple
wooden brackets: one 16-pane sash window to each floor of each house - all
glazing bars intact. The interiors not seen. The rear extensions of little
interest. There are boundary railings to both houses, those to No I apparently
original; the railings on the churchyard side of the footpath also probably C19
early. A stepped terrace of houses with, Nos 3-6 Church Terrace, (qv): are an
important element in the setting of the Church of St. John the Baptist.
