Wayside monument. 1710. Restored late C18 and mid C20. Erected
at the charge of the Earl of Denbigh. Ashlar patched with brick.
Corniced square pedestal with coved corners and 4 pads for corner
shafts. On each side, a square moulded recess containing a
bolection moulded panel, that to the south with a defaced and
illegible Latin inscription. Above and below each of these
panels, a similar smaller rectangular blank panel. Above, a
moulded and corniced square plinth carrying the remains of a
quadruple column with moulded round bases. The remains of the
column and finial are now in the charge of the Leicester City
Museums.
