Triumphal entry and flanking screen walls. c1750. By
James Gibbs. Sandstone ashlar; hipped slate roof behind
parapet with ball ornaments; brick ridge stacks. 2 storeys;
4 windows; glazing bar sashes, those on ground floor with
sill band; central, pedimented carriageway with cupola;
round headed arch with Gibbs surround flanked by paired
Tuscan pilasters linked to outer angle pilasters by a moulded
frieze; pediment surmounted by an urn; clock within
tympanum; niches either side of arch containing C17 demi
statues of Cavaliers. Flanking screen walls to main building
with blind windows and sill band, capped by ball ornaments.
