Church C12, Cl3 and C15, restored late C19. Restoration by H.L. Goddard of
Leicester. Ashlar and rubble stone. Swithland slate roof with stone coped
gables. Leaded roof to tower. W tower, nave and chancel under one roof and
S porch. Tower of C15 (base C13) of 3 stages. Plinth, mouldings, small W
crosslet, quatrefoil opening above and 4 2-light bell openings, all except
N, with battlemented transoms and cusped lights. Hood moulds. Low pyramid
roof with weathercock. Small nave arch, the centre part of the chamfer square
hollowed. Nave N wall blank except for blocked N doorway. 3 large red and
blue brick buttresses outside. Near E end an aumbry with C17 wooden door.
On S wall are 5 2-light windows with Y, Curvilinear and Reticulated tracery.
Norman S doorway. S porch has probably c1700 brick front. 3-light Perp E
window. C19 6-bay tie beam roof. C13/C14 octagonal font of Purbeck marble.
In each panel 2 blank pointed arches, mostly cusped. Early C17 oak communion
rail. C18 oak pulpit and wall monuments. 4 medieval bench ends.
