Farmhouse. Dated 1820 with later additions, for the Downe's Sessay Estate. Mottled
pinkish-brown brick in Flemish bond with graduated slate roof; Welsh slate roof
to wing. L-shaped; 2 storeys, 2 bays with added wing to rear left and C20 single-
storey addition in angle (not of special interest). Garden front: step up to
central 4-panel door with wood architrave and deep stone lintel with incised border
and well-cut lettering:- 'THE WOODMAN'S HOUSE/1820'. 4-pane sashes in wood frames
with projecting stone sills and segmental brick arches. Hipped roof with central
stack. The inscription on the door lintel indicates that the house was built to
accommodation one of the estate workers.
