Bank, formerly house. Front C18 altered in mid-C19 and
restored in late C20 after a fire. Front stuccoed and incised
to imitate masonry with renewed mansard slate roof and brick
chimneystack. 2 storeys and attics; 5 windows. End giant
pilasters with stone urns above. 3 pedimented dormers with
pilasters and stone brackets. Windows are recessed 12-pane
sashes with horns and keystones. Large central Tuscan doorcase
with triglyph frieze and engaged columns. Moulded stucco
plinth. Low stuccoed wall enclosing forecourt. Dr Johnson was
a visitor here.
