Town house, now shops and offices (but top floor unoccupied at
time of survey, 1989). c.1820, only slightly altered. Red
brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings and slate
roof. Double-depth single-fronted plan. Three storeys over
cellar, 2 bays; round-headed doorway to the left, with
doorcase of engaged Tuscan columns with square abaci, plain
frieze and moulded cornice, panelled door and fanlight with
radiating glazing bars; to the right, the head of an altered
cellar window, and a large 16-pane sash at ground floor (lower
leaf now lacking glazing bars); two 16-pane sashes on each
upper floor, all with raised sills and wedge lintels; moulded
gutter cornice. Chimney at junction with No.37 to the right.
Rear: full-height stair window, with 20 large panes and a
sashed opening at the bottom.
INTERIOR: entrance lobby with glazed inner door and side
windows which have coloured margin panes; moulded plaster
cornice with rosettes; dog-legged staircase with stick
balusters; ceilings of plaster on lath and reed.
