Includes No. 12 Shanklin Road. Pair of houses. Mid C19.
Brick with stucco, slate roof. 2 storeys with attics, 3 bays
to each house; end bays project under gables. Stucco ground
floor with cornice over 1st floor sill course and frieze
between; top bracketed eaves. Quoin strips. Windows have
eared architraves and keys and are sashed, no glazing bars,
those to end bays are tripartite, the ground floor windows
in canted bays. 1st floor windows have end-bay pierced
balconies and pierced aprons to other windows; bay leaf
frieze, cornices to end bay, segmental pediments to other
bays. Attic windows are round-headed, with architraves and
keys to end bays. A niche to each floor between central
bays. Returns have porches with antae. No. 12 Shanklin Rd
has lost balcony to end bay; rectangular bay window over
porch.
