Terrace house, 1770s with c.1800 and early C20 alterations. Brown brick slate roof,
on corner with Wigmore Street. Three storeys, basement, and mansard with dormers.
First floor sill band (cut when windows lengthened C1800) and bracketed stone cornice
with blocking course. Broad 3 window front. All sash windows have original stone
architraves, those on ground and first floor with pulvinated friezes and with cornices
on first floor where there is a continuous cast iron balcony of c1800. Wide segmental
arched doorway with side lights and fanlight is early C19 insertion to left. Wrought
iron area railings. Blind return to Wigmore Street has neo-Adam style pilaster
treatment to ground floor with shallow relief modelled "graces" between pairs of
pilasters under entablature - all in stucco. Some good interior features: the hall has
Ionic column screen at foot of stairs which rise full height and are top lit; cut
strings with wrought iron scrolled balustrade, the upper part of well decorated with
large stucco work Rococo framed panels. Original doorcases and mahogany doors. First
floor drawing room has Adamesque ceiling with tripod frieze and stucco relief trophies
as overdoors; rear first floor room retains similar but oval ceiling design, etc.
