Pair of small town houses. c.1830, altered. Red brick in
Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings and slate roof.
Double-depth plan, each house single-fronted and with a back
extension. Two storeys over cellars, 2+2 windows, symmetrical,
with plain frieze and moulded gutter cornice. The doorways,
each up 2 steps and forming a triplet with a through-lobby
doorway between them, are elliptical-headed with gauged brick
heads, set-in quarter columns, and fanlights with radiating
leaded tracery; a panelled door to No.17, with glazed top
panels, and an altered door to No.18; lobby doorway with plain
stone surround. No.17 has sashed windows without glazing bars,
No.18 has has altered glazing with early C20 stained glass,
and all these windows have raised sills and wedge lintels.
Cellar windows also have wedge lintels, and protective
gratings. Gable chimneys. Rear and INTERIOR not inspected.
