Clock tower. Dated 1833 and 1864. Slatestone rubble with granite and freestone
dressings with lead sheathed wooden cupola. Square on plan. 5 stages. Stages 2
and 3 diminish in size but moulded strings divide upper stages which are probably
additions of 1864. Pointed planked door with ventilation holes in painted frame to
south east street front. Second stage has datestone 1833 with oval border. Third
stage has 2 light cusped freestone mullioned window with hood mould. Fourth stage
has datestone with 1864 in raised shield. Circular cusped freestone ventilator to
upper stage with circular painted clockfaces with Roman numerals to south west and
north east. Coved cornice over with articulated parapet. Cupola has chamfered
corner posts with shouldered arches between. 4-sided lead roof is ogee curved and
has ball and spirelet finial with weathervane.
