Pair of houses. Dated 1907. By Runton & Barry for the Garden
Village (Hull) Ltd. Brick, pebbledashed, with plain tile roofs
and 2 external side wall and single ridge and rear wall
stacks. 2 storeys; 6 window range. Windows are wooden framed
casements with leaded glazing. In the centre, two 3-light
windows on each floor, the upper ones smaller. On either side,
a segment-headed wooden arch to a recessed balcony with wooden
railing. Below, a similar arch covering a smaller window.
Beyond, on either side, a 2-storey canted bay window with flat
roof and a 6-pane window on each floor. Returns have a
projecting gabled entrance bay with a 2-light cross casement
above and below, a half-glazed door with flat hood on shaped
wooden brackets. This building is the first of those designed
by Runton & Barry for the first phase of the Garden Village
development. No.8, to right, has a small foundation stone laid
in November 1907 by Sir James Reckitt.
