Shop, now newspaper office. Mid C19. Red brick in English
garden-wall bond on painted stone plinth, with painted stone
dressings; rubble stone at rear; pantile roof with brick
stacks, centre one with cogged brick cornice, end ones
truncated.
2-storeys-and-attic; 1-window gable front. Entrance in canted
right corner within double shop front extending to right
return. Shop front of fluted panelled pilasters with moulded
imposts and paired fluted backets beneath entablature and
projecting dentil cornice. Half-glazed and panelled door with
blocked overlight between plate-glass windows over stone
risers. 4-pane sash windows with flat arches on first and
attic floors: attic window has flat hood of moulded brick.
Painted band and cogged brick string course to attic. Cogged
brick string course and raised band of brick on stepped
corbels in gable end.
Right return: basement, 2-storeys-and-attic; 4-window front.
4-panel door with overlight to right of centre, with narrow
sash window to left: 4-pane sash further left: shop front
return at left end. To right of door, single shop front of
plain pilasters on tall bases, with shallow dentil cornice
hood on paired brackets: plate glass window with painted stone
sill over arched basement opening, now blocked. Three 4-pane
sashes on first floor, and altered former sash over door. 3
inserted casement windows in attic. Attic band and eaves
detailing repeats that on gable end.
