Farmhouse, now house. Late C17 remodelling of earlier building with extension dated
1786; later additions and alterations. Roughly coursed slate-stone, rendered to
front and on first floor to right return and C18 addition; slate roofs, half-hipped
to left of main range and hipped to C18 part. Main range extended to right and rear
in C18 forming basic L-plan with barn attached to left gable end of main range.
2 storeys. Main range (including extension to right has 3 late C20 casements in C19
style dirctly below eaves and similar casements to left and right on ground floor.
Hip-roofed porch to left of centre has 4-panel doors (top panels glazed) to both
inner and outer doorways; C19 casement with L-hinges immediately to right. Ridge
stack (former end stack) with slate drips to right of centre and similar external
end stack behind ridge to left. C19 casement on each floor to right end and also on
first floor to road side of C18 addition, which has datestone to right, largely
illegible at time of resurvey (January 1988) but apparently reading "1786". 3-light
fixed-light window to ground floor (former dairy). Side in angle with main range
has pigeon nesting holes on first floor. Barn attached to left gable end of main
range (which has outline of earlier roof pitch visible) has doorway to centre with
casement to right and lean-to porch in angle with main range with small casement
directly above. Half-hipped left end has 2 prominent sloping buttresses.
Interior: Granite fireplace with wood lintel to end stack in main ground-floor room
which has late C17/early C18 staircase leading off with turned balusters, square
newels and moulded handrail. Passage running along rear of main range. Several
plank including some ledged) and panelled doors. late C17 roof in 4 bays between
stacks with lapped joints to upper and lower collars. Outlines of earlier roof line
visible in stone walls beneath stacks in roof space. Rest of roof structure looks
C18. Part of barn (roof entirely renewed C20) is now used as domestic accommodation.
