5/34 Memorial gateway to churchyard
GV II

Gates and gatepiers. 1922. Ashlar limestone piers; wrought-iron
gates and overthrow. Square piers with moulded panelling to front
face incorporating brass memorial inscription plaques. Moulded
caps with ball finials; moulded base. Two-leaf gates with central
scroll-work rail. Scrolled overthrow builds up to centre and
contains brass inscription panel. An important townscape feature
adding to the grouping at the top of Long Street, and the west
aspect of the Church of St James (q.v.).
