Town House, now premises of the Midland Bank. C17, with mid C18 facing.
Lias ashlar walls with rusticated stone quoins. Modillion stone cornice
and parapet over with pilaster divisions. Slate roof with stone gable-
copings. Stone stacks, 2 at left hand gable, with a projecting stack;
one at right hand gable. 2 storeys and attics. 3 windows, ground floor
with 2 balancing rounded bay-windows and glazing-bars. Moulded continuous
cornice along the front. Frist floor: 3 sashes and glazing-bars with
moulded stone architraves and projecting keys. Stone cills. C18 facade
fronting earlier one. West elevation: 2 storeys and attic. Rear gable
has stone-coping and one brick stack. Upper floor has 2 2-light stone
mullions (ovolos). No labels; replaced by later lintels. Stone fire-
place, c.1600, built into the west gable wall at first floor level and not
relating to the present stacks. Depressed arch head and recessed
spandrels. Interior: mid-chamfered ceiling-beam with straight chamfer
in front room, C17. Further chamfered ceiling-beams to rear. Stone
fireplace in upper back room with Tudor-arch head. C17 attics at rear
with stone-mullion window.
