House, now offices. Late C19 possibly by G. Skipper. Facade of Costessey
tiles; red brick basement and gable ends; plain tile roof; 2 end chimneys
with tile cladding. 2 storeys, attic and basement. 3 first-floor windows,
symmetrical. 6 steps up to panelled double-leaf doors with plain fanlight
in canted porch with moulded pilasters and broken pediment. 2-storey canted
bay windows to right and left have mullioned and transomed windows with
fluted half-columns. Frieze with moulded mermen figures. Central first-
floor window is flanked by moulded half-columns supporting a scrolled pediment.
2-light attic windows to right and left have moulded pilasters and curved
pediments. Central wooden dormer with fluted pilasters and pediment.
Interior: the entrance hall has three 6-panelled doors with broken pediments
and another half-glazed door with stained glass. Staircase has elaborately
carved arcade, newel posts and strings. Ribbed plaster ceiling with moulded
cornice. C20 cladding to doors on first floor and C20 partitions on attic
stairs. Area railings of elaborate wrought iron are joined to the porch
and are set on a dwarf brick wall flanked by a garden wall with plain brick
panels and moulded tile frieze to right. Passage gate to left adjoins left-
boundary wall with stepped coping. Fine interior joinery.
