Barn and shippon. CIQ with late C19 alterations and addition. C18
roughly-squared and coursed stone and C19 uncoursed stone rubble with some red-brick
dressings to openings. Gable-ended Welsh-slate roof.
Plan: L-plan range. C18 shippon aligned approximately north-east/north-west, facing
south, with C19 barn aligned approximately north-west/south-east, facing south-west,
added at right angles to rear of left-hand end, incorporating some fabric of probably
former C18 rear wing. 8-bay barn, with cart entrance to south-west and evidence of
former horse-engine house to north-east (see line of gable on wall). Shippon of 1-
storey and loft, and loft over north-east end of barn.
Exterior: Shippon with loft opening off centre to left, boarded stable-type door to
right with wooden lintel and two C20 boarded doors to left with concrete lintels.
Loft door in right-hand gable end. South-west front of barn has cart entrance off-
centre to left with 2 low boarded doors and shallow porch with stone side walls and
pent roof over. Rear of barn has 2 segmental-headed doorways with brick arched head,
one to right with half-height boarded door. Opening in centre of wall, formerly to
take drive from now-demolished horse-engine house. Right-hand gable end of barn
(adjoining shippon) has boarded loft door with boarded-over window in apex of gable
above, ground-floor opening to right with 2 boarded doors and doorway to left with
boarded door; all openings have brick segmental arched heads.
Interior: 8-bay barn roof with king-post trusses. Some line shafting remaining.
