7/32 The Old Rectory and Rectory Cottage

Rectory and cottage, now 2 houses. Late C17, rebuilt and extended to north in
1852. Garden elevation. To the south is the C17 house, of random rubble with
freestone quoins and dressings and a pantiled roof; ashlar stacks with cornice.
Single storey and attics in 3 steep gables with finials. Three 2- and 3-light
casement windows in ovolo moulded mullions and surrounds and under dripmoulds.
Door to right, in moulded surround with 4-centred head. In the centre is the
C19 part of coursed and squared freestone and with a slate roof behind a parapet.
2 storeys and attics in 2 steep gables. 3 bays: the outer ones have 2 storey
canted bay windows; all cross windows in ovolo moulded surrounds; 2-light
casements in attics. The road elevation of the main house has 5 bays: 2-light
cross windows and 2 stepped gables on the parapet. Central projecting, 2 storey
porch with curvilinear gable and datestone; plank door in 4-centre hooded
surround. The C17 part has a single gable and a projecting wing at the right
with 2 pointed lights. Rectory Cottage is attached at the north: 2 storeys and
two 2-light casement windows; the upper floor has gabled dormers at the rear;
central plank door in plain surround and under flat stone hood on brackets.
