II

Bridge over ornamental lake. c1909. Designed by Belcher and
Joass. Sandstone ashlar. Single semi-elliptical arch with
scrolled keystones. The channelled rustication of the
voussoirs is continued outwards horizontally. The stone
parapets have moulded copings and have 3 balustraded openings
on each side.
HISTORY: the bridge replaced an earlier timber structure and
formed part of the improvements to Williamson Park which Lord
Ashton offered to pay for in 1904.
