The chapel and the walls of the "Great Kitchen" date from the C13. The rest
of the building contains work of almost all periods front the C14 to the C18
but was largely rebuilt in 1724-1731. It is described in detail in the VCH
Volume 3 of Sussex. The south front is of stone rubble patched with red
brick and has C18 sash windows. On the ground floor there is a projection
with arcading containing a corridor. Gatehouse 1327.
