listed as Youth Hostel)

House now 2 dwellings. Probably late C17 core, refronted early C19. Cement
rendered; Welsh slate and red tile roofs. 2 storeys, 4 bays with parallel
range to rear and extended wing to rear left (Grove Cottage). Entrance
front: plinth. Doorway to bay 3 has 6-panel door and fanlight with
ornamental glazing bars in wooden doorcase with reeded pilasters and carved
consoles to an open pediment with mutules and dentils. Other ground-floor
bays each have a bow window with projecting sill and reeded mullions dividing
tripartite sashes of 4, 12 and 4 panes beneath cornice. 1st floor:
projecting sills to sashes with glazing bars in flush wooden architraves.
Eaves cornice and blocking course; old rainwater hoppers on left and on right
return. Projecting end stack on left has rendered shaft; ridge stack over
bay 3.
Interior:not inspected.
Grove Cottage occupies most of rear wing but has no external features of
special interest.
