GV II

Chapel-of-ease. 1839. Coursed and squared limestone rubble with
ashlar quoins and dressings; plain tile roof with coped verges. 4-
bay nave with south porch, single-bay chancel and north-west vestry.
Pointed windows, the east window has Y-tracery; gabled south porch
with pointed door and niche above containing a statuette of the Virgin;
coved eaves, weather boarded bellcote with hipped roof. Interior:
pointed chancel arch springing from moulded imposts; west gallery on
cylindrical cast iron columns with arcaded rail; plaster ceilings and
cased beams. Fittings: octagonal stone font with quatrefoil side
panels containing fleurons; semi-octagonal wooden pulpit; C17
communion rail heavily decorated with carved foliage, a piece of the
same rail hangs on the south wall. B.O.E. p. 92.
