GV II*
House, now 2 cottages. C17. Coursed squared marlstone with ashlar dressings;
thatch roof with limestone-ashlar gable stacks. 3-unit plan. 2 storeys plus
attic. 2-window range has a symmetrical arrangement of 3-light stone-mullioned
window with labels, at ground floor linked to a continuous drip mould. Lower
bay, set back to left, has a 2-light mullioned window above a small single
light, and has a stone-roofed bread-oven projection in the angle. All windows
have lattice glazing. Gables have parapets. C19 stacks, with moulded caps, flank
the higher section. Rear of main range has a projecting gabled stair tower and a
chamfered stone doorway. Cellar below right bay has a mullioned window at rear.
Right gable wall contains the entrance to No.57. Interior not inspected, but
likely to be of interest. A fine example, probably little altered.
