4/20 Lower Dunge Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. Early C18, altered C20. Rendered brick, tiled roof
with hip to right and half-hip to left, brick stacks. L-plan.
Two-storey, 2-window. Central C20 porch and door, 2-light beaded
mullioned casement either side, the left retains leaded lights.
First floor has two 2-light beaded mullioned casements. Right
return with raking concrete buttress, C20 casement to right, first
floor with 2-light beaded mullioned casement with leaded lights to
left and C20 casement to right. Rear wing attached to left has C20
casements and pantiled roof, single-storey extension to right also
with C20 casements.
Interior has open fireplace with timber lintel on brick jambs, in
room to left of entrance, chamfered beams, 4-panelled doors,
flagstone floors. This house built adjacent to Dunge moated site,
Scheduled Ancient Monument No 567.
