TL 40 NW ROYDON EPPING ROAD
3/8 Baldwyns

House. Early C15 open hall, altered in C16. Timber framed and plastered, with
red plain tile roof, hipped at west end. 1 storey and attics. Original open
hall is of 2 bays with service bay. 3 window range C20 leaded casements. 2
gabled dormers with C20 leaded casements. C20 gabled porch, in original
entrance position. C20 flat roofed single storey extension at west end. Red
brick chimney stack at south end. Internally the original frame survives, with
cross quadrate crown post roof. Evidence survives for 2 service doors, and
original diamond mullioned windows. Halved and bridled scarf joints. Late
C16 inserted first floor in hall. (RCHM 12).
