Watermill on Hawkeswell Brook. C19. Brick in English garden wall
bond, double roll pantiled roof. Tall rectangular block of 3
storeys, of 2 builds, the earlier to west of 2 bays with breast-
shot wheel (absent 1986) in race at gable end under former lean-to.
Timber casement windows, and tall window to top floor in gable.
Second build also 2 bays and similar windows, but C20 gable door
and side panel. On south side spillway with timber sluice.
Interior partially converted to dwelling, but retains at west end
the pit wheel, wallower, wooden spur wheel and wood toothed iron
stone nuts underdriving 2 pairs of stones, one pair being French
burrs.
