House with former shop, now 2 dwellings. Mid C17, extended and part rebuilt
C18 and C19. Timber frame, extended in clay lump and white brick. Largely
plastered. Thatched, black glazed and red pantiled roofs. Originally
probably a small 3 cell L on plan with parlour to rear rebuilt in C19,
additions to service end. 1 storey and attic and 2 storeys. Entrance to left
of centre with an architraved 4:4 pane sash to left, two 3-light glazing bar
casements with cornices to right, one of which is in an early 1 storey clay
lump and pantiled addition. Two 2-light gabled dormers in a steeply pitched
roof with a hip to left return which has a pantiled lean-to outshut with a
boarded door and a 2-light casement to front. White brick axial ridge stack
on returned bay at junction with clay lump brick faced parlour bay which is 2
storeys, ground floor conservatory and first floor sash on return, shallow
pitch to pantiled roof with gable to rear, lean-to projection from inner
return with 1 and 2-light glazing bar casements. Main range to rear has early
pantiled lean-to outshuts. Projecting forward from service end extension is
C19 former shop lean-to, rendered brick with an entrance and a 3-light
casement. Interior: framing largely concealed, passing tension braces, bar
and triangle stop chamfered axial and cross axial binding beams and fireplace
bressumer.
