House. Late medieval. Coursed limestone rubble; gabled stone slate roof; ridge
stack of stone finished in brick. Hall house remodelled as 3-unit lobby-entry
plan in C17. 2 storeys; 5-window range. Large C20 gabled porch. Timber lintels
over C20 casements, some with brick dressings. Late C19/early C20 rear ranges of
rendered brick with plain tile roof and brick lateral stacks. Interior:
stone-flagged floors. Late medieval 3-bay house left of stack has raised
chamfered cruck, with arch bracing to collar and trenched purlins; to left, a
late medieval closed truss with raised cruck and simple mortices for joists of
former chamber floor in left bay. Early C17 stop-chamfered beams of inserted
floor, and unusual stop-chamfered heavy wood surround to open fireplace. To
front of lobby are flat-laid joists and to right heavy stop-chamfered beams with
flat-laid joists; 3-bay collar-truss roof above.
