6/144 Grotto Underpass
GV II
Underpass for path to Temple of Apollo (q.v.) below Zeals Road.
1760-65, for Henry Hoare. Curving tunnel with rustic rockwork
portals with large voussoirs, path continues up hill through
cutting with a single rockwork arch over. Probably contemporary
with the Rockwork bridge over the Zeals road (q.v.), being part of
the same route to the Temple of Apollo.
